SonATA Download

Back to Project Home

You must have git installed on your computer. If you do not have it installed, perform the following.

  • sudo zypper install git

Download the source code from https://github.com/setiQuest/SonATA

  • cd ~
  • git clone git://github.com/setiQuest/SonATA.git

After the download the SonATA distribution will be in a directory named SonATA.

Alternatively, if you are planning to contribute to this project with code changes and additions, you will want to:

  1. Create your own GitHub.com account if you do not already have one.
  2. Fork the setiQuest/SonATA project
  3. "git clone" the forked project now residing in your GitHub account to your local computer.

Alternative Method

It has come to our attention that some people have difficulty downloading our repository from GitHub because of their local file size/bandwidth limitations. For instance, more than one participant at a university in India had trouble because there is a 50MB max file size limitation for any one download. Our repository is currently a 100MB-ish download.

To help people in this situation we have created a set of tar files that, if you untar them all into the same directory, will recreate the SonATA directory you would have gotten from a "git clone". Note that this is NOT the preferred way of getting the source code release, but will do in a pinch if someone has download problems with GitHub.

Warning: Using this download method will prohibit you from contributing code. Code can be contributed to the project only through the standard GitHub fork/pull mechanism.

  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/SonATA_March25_2011-000.tar
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/SonATA_March25_2011-001.tar
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/SonATA_March25_2011-002.tar
  • tar -xvf SonATA_March25_2011-000.tar
  • tar -xvf SonATA_March25_2011-001.tar
  • tar -xvf SonATA_March25_2011-002.tar

Also, we have split the large voyager data file into parts. Please download this way:

  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_aa
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_ab
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_ac
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_ad
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_ae
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_af

  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_ai
  • wget http://setiquest.org/sonata_files/vger-xpol-2010-07-14-406.pktdata.tar.Z_aj

Then:
