[11:00am] jrseti_: Hello All! It is 11am California time. The IRC chat will begin
[11:00am] jrseti_: See http://setiquest.org/forum/topic/community-meeting-2012-05-22
[11:00am] gliese581c`: Title: Community Meeting 2012-05-22 | setiQuest (at setiquest.org)
[11:01am] jrseti_: Sigblips: I think it is just you and me
[11:01am] sigblips: Hello, it's just us.
[11:02am] jrseti_: Did you view the eclipse video on the front of setiquest.org?
[11:02am] khrm joined the chat room.
[11:03am] sigblips: 4) We got the scoop 3 weeks ago but now it is official. http://www.seti.org/node/1281
[11:03am] gliese581c`: Title: SETI Institute Celebrates World-Famous Alien Hunter’s 35 Years of Research And Looks Forward To The Next Chapter | SETI Institute (at www.seti.org)
[11:03am] jrseti_: Hello KHRM
[11:03am] khrm: hello.
[11:03am] jrseti_: I just told Sigblips to view the video of the eclipse featured on the front page of setiquest.org
[11:03am] jrseti_: http://setiquest.org/video/eclipse-may20-2012-rick-forster.mov
[11:04am] leash joined the chat room.
[11:04am] sigblips: I missed jrseti's eclipse webcast because I was outside watching it! The coverage in Cupertino was only 83%. What was it like up at the ATA?
[11:04am] jrseti_: Hello Leash
[11:05am] jrseti_: Leash, see http://setiquest.org/video/eclipse-may20-2012-rick-forster.mov
[11:06am] leash left the chat room. (Client Quit)
[11:07am] jrseti_: My eclipse video is at http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/22742895
[11:07am] gliese581c`: Title: Eclipse at the ATA May 20, 2012, Recorded on 5/20/12 jrseti on USTREAM. Wissenschaft (at www.ustream.tv)
[11:07am] khrm: I will not be able to watch any video as my adsl line is down and I am using a free wifi hotspot( so that it takes a long time for net). But let me try.
[11:07am] jrseti_: At 1:39:00 the moon hits the sun.
[11:07am] leash joined the chat room.
[11:08am] leash left the chat room. (Client Quit)
[11:08am] sigblips: Music: In the Hall of the Mountain King. Nice touch.
[11:09am] jrseti_: My video is not that great, but it could be used in the remake of the movie Koyaanisqatsi (with Phillip Glass music)
[11:09am] sigblips: That looks like 100% coverage.
[11:10am] khrm: I am only able to see lot of cars.
[11:10am] leash joined the chat room.
[11:10am] jrseti_: I need to figure out how to make my telescope webcam get the entire sun in the video
[11:11am] sigblips: khrm: The eclipse looked like a lot of cars in India?
[11:12am] jrseti_: KHRM: if you go to 1:39:00 you will see the eclipse begin. I had a webcam pointed in the direction of the sun (there were cars there too)
[11:12am] khrm left the chat room. (Quit: Bye)
[11:13am] khrm joined the chat room.
[11:13am] jrseti_: Anyway - the agenda?
[11:13am] sigblips: Oh, the ATA parking lot cam. I get it now.
[11:13am] jrseti_: 2. There was a bit of spam this week.
[11:13am] jrseti_: on the forum
[11:14am] sigblips: I didn't see that much spam.
[11:14am] jrseti_: Maybe we are on the spammer's blacklist? We are known to be too quick :)
[11:14am] leash_ joined the chat room.
[11:15am] leash left the chat room. (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
[11:15am] jrseti_: Leash: I met Eliot Gillum, the guy at Microsoft helping me with MWWT. He is quite keen on helping.
[11:15am] leash_: What did he have to say?
[11:16am] jrseti_: Not much about MWWT. He pointed me to the necessary documentation for creating a Collection, and I am in the middle of trying that now.
[11:16am] khrm left the chat room. (Client Quit)
[11:17am] jrseti_: KHRM is having problems today!
[11:18am] leash_: Okay. Let me know if you still need my help.
[11:19am] jrseti_: One thing to note: The SETILive! guys are beginning to think about an API to access their data. Lou from SETILive! will be asking questions on the forum, asking for ideas.
[11:19am] jrseti_: At least, that is what he said this morning.
[11:20am] jrseti_: So, watch for that.
[11:20am] sigblips: Lou mentioned that here http://talk.setilive.org/science/discussions/DSL1003uep too.
[11:20am] sigblips: How are SETI Live followups going?
[11:21am] khrm joined the chat room.
[11:22am] jrseti_: The SETILive! followups... They are still working on it. As far as we know, on the SonATA side, we are ready for testing. I think some other their projects got ahead of ours, but we are pushing to get them to complete this.
[11:23am] sigblips: I noticed on Friday that the SETI Live observations changed frequencies. (~1200 - 1300 MHz)
[11:23am] khrm left the chat room. (Client Quit)
[11:24am] sigblips: They opened up a whole new world of RFI !!!!
[11:24am] khrm joined the chat room.
[11:24am] jrseti_: Sigblips; Nothing gets by you! Yes, Jane changed the frequencies. We exhausted the previous range, needed to move on to another one.
[11:24am] jrseti_: I immediately noticed a lot more RFI.
[11:26am] jrseti_: We have to pick frequency areas with enough RFI for SETILive
[11:26am] sigblips: Yes, I understand, need to keep it interesting. Looking at pure noise is very boring.
[11:26am] jrseti_: So we can not just pick any frequency range
[11:27am] jrseti_: Did you spot any new kinds?
[11:27am] sigblips: Oh yeah. Not just more RFI but many new types I've never seen before.
[11:28am] jrseti_: Good! We need more variety
[11:29am] sigblips: Yeah, just to keep it interesting. (:
[11:29am] jrseti_: The last item. I feel bad I have not had time to try KHRM's distro an AWS.
[11:30am] jrseti_: I will try to make time this week
[11:30am] khrm: No, don't try it now. I have to make many changes on it. I will change it when I get my adsl line morrow or day after morrow.
[11:31am] jrseti_: Oh - I forgot! Leash made the facebook page for the eclipse. Very nice
[11:31am] sigblips: Any thoughts about adding Java and thing else that is missing so that it will be a 1-click operation?
[11:32am] jrseti_: http://www.facebook.com/events/414307695267886/permalink/416040081761314...
[11:32am] gliese581c`: Title: "Ring of Fire" Solar Eclipse Streaming Party | Facebook (at www.facebook.com)
[11:32am] jrseti_: Once I try it out, I'll see all that is missing and suggest we make a 1 click.
[11:33am] jrseti_: KHRM: Can you add Java to the Distro? Or, did you already?
[11:33am] sigblips: A snapshot of the SonATA executables and source code would be nice too.
[11:33am] jrseti_: Yes, so you do not have to load from GitHub first.
[11:33am] sigblips: Yup, make it as simple as possible for the potential user.
[11:34am] jrseti_: Ok, anything else to discuss?
[11:35am] khrm left the chat room. (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
[11:35am] leash_: jrseti- Thanks.
[11:35am] sigblips: I'm slowing adding the Comments: and References: to http://setiquest.org/wiki/index.php/Seti_programs
[11:35am] gliese581c`: Title: Seti programs - setiquest wiki (at setiquest.org)
[11:36am] jrseti_: I am going to get Seth to fill out some of his info on there.
[11:36am] sigblips: That would be good.
[11:37am] jrseti_: Sigblips: Thanks for doing that
[11:38am] jrseti_: Bye all! Thank you!
[11:39am] sigblips: Goodbye everyone. I'll post this transcript to the forum.
[11:40am] jrseti_ left the chat room. (Remote host closed the connection)
