I am Aditya Bhatt, a 19-year old third-year undergrad, studying at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology in west India.

I’ve been using Linux since I was 8, and have been programming in C and C++ since high school (five years ago). I’ve grown up reading books by Sagan, Hawking, and the like. So I’m pretty passionate about SETI and Space in general. Over the years, I’ve learnt Java and Python . My father being a theoretical physicist, I was introduced early to CAS systems like Mathematica, Maple, and Matlab. I have been interested in numerical/mathematical computing in general. Some of the fun programs I made in high school included a Definite Integral evaluator, an eigenvalue calculator, and a curve plotter for implicit functions.

Academic Background

I'm majoring in Computer Science and Communication Theory - the courses I've taken in the past include Analog and Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Probability theory, and Algorithms. Right now, I'm studying taken Digital Image Processing, Statistical Communication Theory, and Advanced Linear Algebra.

Open Source Experience

I have been a GSoC intern in 2010, with the KDE organization. I co-authored the libface[1] library with my mentor. libface is an open source library written in C++, that performs face detection and recognition on images. I used libface in digiKam, KDE’s photo management application, to enable automatic tagging of people in the photo database.

I love reading Japanese manga :-)

Current Work

Right now, I'm working on the Algorithms project.
